The Science of Being Seen: Parenting with Mattering in Mind

Jennifer Breheny Wallace- Journalist & Author

In her New York Times bestseller Never Enough, Wallace introduced the groundbreaking framework of mattering — the fundamental need for young people to feel valued for who they are —as a powerful antidote to the toxic effects of achievement culture. In her new book Mattering: The Secret to a Life of Deep Connection and Purpose, Wallace turns her focus to the adults in our children’s lives to explore the transformative power of mattering in their well-being.

In this intimate Suite Escape digital conversation, Jennifer will share the research, stories, and everyday practices that help families cultivate genuine connection and emotional well-being in a culture shaped by pressure and performance. Together, we’ll explore how centering mattering in family life can reduce stress, strengthen resilience, and deepen relationships—without lowering expectations or values.
